The second waste of lean is Muri, which refers to overburdening people or equipment beyond their capacity. Muri can take many forms, including:

  • Overloading people with work that they can’t keep up with, resulting in stress, burnout, and errors.
  • Overloading equipment with tasks that it can’t handle, resulting in breakdowns and downtime.
  • Asking people or equipment to do things that they aren’t trained or equipped to handle, resulting in errors and delays.
